Job Title: Summer Intern

Reports To: Manager, Research & Innovation

Supervises: NA

Function/Dept. R&I/ Business Development

 

Purpose: This position provides technical support to the R&I group in identifying and evaluating new product development.

 

Key Accountabilities/Essential Functions:

1.            Provides support to project manager on projects aimed at investigating and evaluating new technology / new product ideas.

2.            Plan and coordinate lab and pilot studies with minimal supervision. This involves planning, carrying out, and interpreting experiments and calls for good laboratory practice, measurements, and data analysis skills.

3.            Participate in project meetings and discussions regarding product design features, physical properties and manufacturing of such products.

4.            Establish and maintain technical project requirement. Conduct project activities within established priorities. Issue timely and accurate reports to appropriate personnel.

5.            Follow the Division's safety, environmental, productivity and quality procedures.

6.            Obtain results that can be used by others in taking action.

7.            Ensure compliance with GMP and FDA regulations where applicable. Comply with all department and ISO 9001 procedures.

8.            Some travel may be required.

 

Education, Technical Knowledge, Experience and Skill Requirements:

1.            BS preferably with some experience. Educational degrees preferably in chemistry, chemical engineering, polymer science or textile technology

2.            Technical expertise in at least one area related to polymer/ fiber science or chemistry

3.            Excellent verbal and written communication skills

4.            Advanced computer skills.

 

Physical Demands:

1.            Ability to work in laboratory and manufacturing environment; commercial equipment will require climbing ladders, working near turning rolls and in tight places. Pilot trials often require lifting of equipment, chemical mix preparation.

2.            Must have normal vision (corrected to 20/20) and normal color vision, normal hearing and above average dexterity
